Cutting Nails Can Be Fun~

Hi there, I'm Happy! I had my nails cut again today. Back in August I had to go to the vet to have my nails cut because I was too shy around humans and I got really scared, which made any kind of nail trimming impossible. They had to use anesthesia to keep me still so they could do the job safely. However, my nails grew again and the staff really didn't want me to endure more anesthesia, instead they found a funner way to do it. To be honest, I really enjoyed getting my nails trimmed this time. I admit that's because of the tasty treats that AT gave me during the procedure. Check out some of my snapshots.
But I still have a skin condition called "fat leaking dermatitis." I need to be on a lead when I have a bath but it's difficult to bathe me because I'm afraid of the lead. So, for the time being I can't take medicated baths to treat my skin problem. But, I hope to take a bath soon since I'm getting braver every day. It won't be long before I can have my bath and get rid of this skin problem.

I don't want to brag, but I'm learning how to walk nicely on the leash. At first, I could only walk on a leash in a small room, but that's just small potatoes. Now I'm walking in the big room. Sometimes I buck up and down like a horse to escape my collar and leash, but I'm gradually learning to walk with volunteers. Once I'm fully trained, I hope you will come to the rescue center so we can go for a walk. I'm sure that day won't be too far away.

Please sponsor me if you like me, but I'm not eligible yet for adoption. I would feel very warm inside to know there is a human out there who can offer hope and support for me. Please call 02-2833-8820 or write to inquiries@animalstaiwan.org to learn more about me.
Thank you.

Adopt Me -Thomas ( maltese / poodle mixed

My name is Thomas and i'm a Maltese Poodle. I'm 7 yearls old and very healthy. But that wasn't always the way. I was kept for many years in a very small cage which was exposed to the rain and harsh sun, night and day. I had no shelter.
However, an angel found me and rescued me from my terrible life. I couldn't walk very well as i'd never been out of the cage. I was a little scared too as i hadn't had very much human contact.
My angel not only pulled me from this terrible life but also got me medical care and took the time and patience to help me gain back my confidence with people. I'm now fully house trained and have learnt to sit. I have a great happy character and love cuddles.
I'm ready for my forever home now. My angel has to go away and help others, so i'd like to find a family of my own. I promise to bring love and joy into your home.
Please contact Carla if you are interested in adopting me, cellphone: 0989778536 email: marla.singa@hotmail.com

Muggle needs a new home~

Muggle the Poodle was found wandering the streets in Shizi. She didn’t have a chip although she did have a collar. She’s very friendly and loves people. She’s a small white poodle mix. She’s about 8 years old (or a little older) she’s been spayed and had been checked. She has a slight heart problem.

Janet's Story

(This is Janet while undergoing treatment at the rescue center—her skin looked much improved.)
Janet was rescued at just 2 months old. She was found suffering from serious skin disease. Not only had she lost much of the fur on her back, her whole body was covered with ticks and fleas. Janet stayed at the rescue center where she was given medicine regularly and washed with medicated shampoo. Every day, time was devoted to playing with Janet so that she would become an outgoing and friendly dog.

At first, Janet was very timid. She would curl up in a corner whenever she saw us and watch us with big innocent eyes.

(This is Janet at an adoption event.)
Over time, Janet has blossomed into happy-go-lucky young dog, and her skin is almost 100% recovered. In an effort to find Janet a forever family while she is still young, we held an adoption event for her.

Janet is now more than one year old. She is still at the rescue center waiting for that special family who will take her home and cherish her. We know that one day soon Janet will find her forever family and leave the rescue center to start her new life.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support of Animals Taiwan.

Please call 02-2833-8820 to visit, adopt, or sponsor the wonderful furries at the rescue center or to volunteer your time to help them.

November Newsletter~

November has been an exciting month, we have had several great adoptions and also helped many people get dogs they have rescued adopted. We also had a great trip to Pacific American School to help educate our next generation on the care of animals and the importance of adoption. Finally, we have had our new Board of Directors and Supervisors voted in and have appointed a new Executive Director, Mr Peter Poon. He has already started working hard to improve our organization and is searching all avenues to help us grow and develop. We can see a very exciting future ahead of us.

Cold months are ahead of us and we would like to ask if you have any old dog beds, kennels, dog crates, blankets or towels. As we have quite a few senior dogs and disabled dogs we need to keep them off the cold floors during the cold months ahead of us. Please contact 02-28338820 if you have any donations.

Lulu the puppy was rescued after a car accident. She was badly hurt. She was diagnosed with broken bones, a concussion and internal bleeding. At 3 months old we thought it was going to be difficult for this little girl to fight back. However, fight back is exactly what she did. After her treatment she has recovered fully and is now in her foster home. She is now 6 months old and ready and waiting for a forever home. She’s had to fight up to now and we hope that she never has to fight for her life again.

Leo was found with a serious leg injury. A lovely lady took him in and is fostering him. Animals Taiwan has helped helping to find this lovely little kitty a forever home.

Tien Dou was found wandering the streets of Yong Her. We were called in to help him. We caught him and quickly scanned for a chip. Luckily his owner was responsible and had had him chipped. He has since been re-united with his owner.
(Tien Dou)
Four little puppies were found abandoned by their mother. They were taken in by a kind supporter of AnimalsTaiwan. We worked together with their foster father and within 2 weeks all 4 puppies found loving homes.

CNR

Still continuing with the CNR we caught a male cat in one of our CNR areas. Near the end of completion of the CNR projects it does get a lot harder, the cats and dogs become aware of who we are and what we are doing. It makes it much more difficult for us to catch them. This is the problem we are having in one of our CNR areas of dogs, the 2 females we have been trying to catch for a very long time now are still alluding us.Adoptions This month has been very good for adoptions.

DaBau the little puppy who was rescued over a month ago has gone on a tryout. Things are working well and we hope he has found his forever home.

Both Rosy – now Daisy and Rosanne – now Rosie have happily settled into their foster homes. All looks well for them to eventually be adopted by their foster families.
(Rossy)
Bilbo has also gone on a tryout. After being dumped by his previous owners we really hope this time Bilbo has found his forever home.
(Bilbo)
Bella has been adopted and is being thoroughly spoilt like she should.

Deustch who is now Brady was the German Sheperd who previous went on a try out that didn’t quite work out. However, it seems to have been for the best as he has now found a fantastic home on a stabling ranch. His new owners love him to bits and keep us updated with all his goings on. He has found the perfect home.
(Bella)

MeinMein a little kitten rescued has also gone on a tryout. We have our fingers crossed for her.
(MeinMein)

Unfortunately Fluffy the small Maltese was returned after a short trial period. Her new owners felt they couldn’t give her the attention she needed. We will continue to find this lovely old lady a new home. She has melted the hearts of many already.
(Fluffy)

Little Dumbo a rescued kitten was returned by her new owner this month. Apparently the new owner had to move away at short notice and couldn’t take her new kitten. Dumbo is now at the centre looking for a more responsible forever home.
(Dumbo)

Events
This month we have had some very successful events which include the visit to Pacific American school in Hsinchu. The children were very responsive and loved the visit from Diana and Birch. All photos are on our facebook page.

We also attended the WTC Pets show. This was a four day event which included many competitions, pet supply companies and other organizations. We had a very successful 4 days of sales, donations and adoption or fostering interest. We have to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard.

We are continuing with the flea market at Grandma Nitty’s once a month although the weather hasn’t always been on our side. This is a great chance to get bargains and help the animals.

Not only are we now on facebook, but we are also on twitter www.twitter.com/animalstaiwan
So now it’s even easier to keep upto date with what’s happening with AT.
(Twitter) : www.twitter.com/animalstaiwan

As always with all our rescues we never put a dog or cat to sleep unless the animal is suffering greatly with not much chance of recovery. We will always do our best to make sure every animal is given the best treatment and best opportunity to live a happy and loving life.

We are able to continue these rescues and adoptions thanks to your generosity.
If you would like to be kept up to date with stories and photos on our progress you can now check out our blog ;http://animalstaiwan.blogspot.com/

Please continue check out our webpage and pass it on to any friends or family members. There are always some wonderful dogs up for adoption, so if you have any friends or family interested in adopting, please show them our website. www.animalstaiwan.org

Remember Adopting saves lives! Please educate those around you to get their animal de-sexed and micro chipped to help decrease the stray population.
