Foxy is a dog we rescued from Prof Ja's shelter. She is actually a perfect candidate for adoption as she is very beautiful and a small size. However, she is terrified of people. Our animal care supervisor Joey is working with her every day to help her get used to people and become more trusting.
Please continue to support us to help more animals in need. Feel free to contact us @ 02-2833-8820 www.animalstaiwan.org inquiries@animalstaiwan.org

( AnimalsTaiwan needs your continually support )

How Ziva looked like when we first found her....

After 2 weeks...

Ziva was fostering by a nice lady.

Ziva now.

.My name is Ziva and I was born in April of 2010. I was found on the side of the road in June too weak to move and with terrible skin problems. I was rushed to the vet and treated. Now over 5 months later I have fully recovered thanks to the help of the veterinarian staff, Animals Taiwan and my foster mommy. I’m already spayed and have received all my vaccinations. I’m very healthy and love to play. I have lots of energy and love to be around other doggies. I’m now looking for a permanent home where I can show how much love I have to give.

If you can give me a loving home or would like to meet me please contact Rita or Lusan on 02-28338820 or emailadoptions@animalstaiwan.org

If you would like to sponsor me please contact sponsors@animalstaiwan.org

Animals Taiwan works very hard to help many furry friends just like me and they need your support to continue.

2010 Pets Show

Dearly Beloved Volunteers,

A HUGE thank you for all your help at the 2010 Pets Show!!!

It was truly inspiring to see how eager and passionate each of you were in helping to hand out pamphlets & postcards to everyone that passed by our booth and around the hall; ensuring to bring awareness to adoption & promote sponsorship to anyone and everyone that stopped to give you a few seconds of time.

You were diligent in sharing our binders, and stories of our dogs & cats, and introducing our furry friends at the booth to animal lovers like yourselves. Of course, also a big kudos to A-mei, Judy, Diana, Fluffy, Coffee, Molly, and Skal for helping to raise donations and bring smiles & awareness!

Big thanks to all the drivers for making it possible to bring our furries to this event; you made it possible for people to put a face to this overwhelming issue. Moreover they were vital in helping to raise donations.

A few of you also took time off from work in order to come participate - Thank you for going the extra mile to help out!

Special thanks to Rita & Lusan for helping to prepare the furries for the event every morning! Also, a big thanks to Liza for all your efforts, from helping to organize all the materials for the booth with Lusan to coming in and rallying up team spirit with your contagious enthusiasm!

Thanks to Lilian for helping to arrange printing for the pamphlets and postcards and ensuring they were sent on time - They were vital in helping us to pass on our message!

Thanks to Joey for helping to deliver a table at a moment's notice, and also for coming to help move and transport everything back to the centre!
This event has been successful beyond all expectations!!! Because of all your efforts, we had 8 adoption inquiries, which Rita & Lusan will be following up on. Also 12 ppl signed up to become AT volunteers. Furthermore we raised a combined total of $30,492 from sales & donations!!!

Please give yourselves a huge pat on the back for an amazing job, and let's continue this momentum for other events down the road!

Meet Alfred!

Hello, my name is Alfred and I'm 7 years old!

I love being with people and smile all the time. I also understand when you ask me to come or to stop.

Actually, I don't walk very well. My foster mommies rescued me from the shelter and hoped the vet could fix my hind legs. However, they discovered it's my spine that's injured, not my legs. Don’t worry, I am a strong boy and the vet said that with the help of my wheelchair I can run even faster than you guys! My mommies gave me a custom-made wheelchair and I can already run with it!

Would you give me a forever home? I need a home with love and hope you can spend more time with me. I'll take all the love you can offer and give you back twice as much!

I'm desexed, I've had my rabies shot, and I’m currently being treated for Ehrlichiosis. I’m a really lovely boy! Please call Kit at 0982716306 to make arrangements to take me home!

4 cute puppies need a loving home~

Mr. Lu found these four female puppies in Taoyuan.

They are homeless, need a loving family and are afraid of being caught by the dog catchers.

If you can adopt them, please contact Mr. Lu @ 0919999148. Your help is greatly appreciated!

P.S. They are living in Taoyuan now.

Animals Taiwan October Newsletter

October has been a very wet month.

This means a lot of work for the rescue centre staff. It gets very muddy here, so the staff have to work overtime to make sure everything and everyone stays clean. Also, it means that the doggies don’t get walked/exercised as much. If you have time during the week or on the weekend when the weather is dry, please drop by for an hour or so to walk a few doggies. This really helps keep them healthy and calm, and also increases their chance of adoption since they aren’t so excitable and know how to walk well on the leash.

Rescues救援

Fluffy, who is only 2kg, was found wandering the streets. She was found and taken in by a very kind gentleman. She looked very sick and old. The vet said that it is difficult to tell how old she is but around 10 at least. She has an old eye injury and has lost most of her teeth. She has had treatment for the eye and she is healthy in every other respect. She is very friendly and loving. She has already gone on a tryout so we have our fingers crossed.

Three little kittens were found abandoned in a paper box. They were not properly weaned yet and were very weak, but were otherwise healthy. They were fostered and now are healthy and happy. Two of the three have already been adopted and the third is waiting patiently at our rescue centre to be adopted.

Zuck was an older male ginger cat who was spotted dragging around a gin trap on his paw. He was quickly caught and taken to the vet for treatment. It was noticed that he had a previous eye injury and that his leg was badly infected. On further assessment, he was also found to have kidney problems. Although the vet did everything possible for this poor fellow, Zuck passed away and moved on to a better life. (photo: Zuck)

Bei Bei was found in a very weak condition and had an eye infection. She is very friendly and responded quickly to treatment. She has already been adopted into a lovely family. ( photo: Beibei )

A cute little male Maltese was found by a nice lady wandering the streets. He didn’t have a chip or a collar. We are currently helping the foster mom try to find his owner or at least get him adopted. ( photo: the male Maltese )

Chibi was found abandoned by his own mother because of a lack of milk. A nice lady took him in and is fostering him. The foster mother has worked very hard to keep him healthy and well. It has been a long road, but now Chibi is ready to be adopted into a loving family. ( photo: Chibi)

Nini was a stray cat who was fed by a kind lady. However, Nini recently got bitten by a dog and needed treatment. Unfortunately, she lost one of her ears because of the attack but she is otherwise quite healthy. Nini is currently being fostered and we are helping to look for a loving home for her. (photos: Nini )

A stray dog was rescued because he was severely emaciated. After examination, he was found to be too thin. He was neutered and needs regular food and supplements to bring him back to health. He is currently being fostered. (photos : Blacky )

Xiao Mei Mei was found wandering a busy road by a nice lady. She didn’t have a chip or collar. We tried to find her owner but had no success. Xiao Mei Mei was put up for adoption and found a home very quickly. She is now in a loving home getting the attention and love she deserves.

CNR捕捉-結紮-放回原處計畫:

There is a feeding lady not too far from our rescue centre who has been feeding about 8 dogs. We have recently helped her capture and spay the four females and will go back to capture and neuter the males once the weather settles a bit. ( photos: CNR dogs.)

We have been trying very hard to complete the CNR project in Shen Keng. However, the remaining dogs are very wise to us now and have alluded us time and time again. But we won’t give up. It is our mission to make sure all the dogs in this area are spayed or neutered.

我們一直很努力希望盡快完成深坑的CNR計畫。但是剩下的狗狗實在越來越機敏,我們會繼續努力直到完成計畫為止。

Adoptions 認養

As mentioned above, two of the three kittens have been adopted. Bei Bei, Xiao Mei Mei, and Fluffy also were adopted to loving homes.

More great news is that Sporty arrived safely in Canada. She has been adopted by our night watchman, Aaron, who moved back to Canada this year. ( photo: Sporty and new daddy )

Casanova, who was fostered last month, has already been adopted and is now happy in his new home.

Foster homes寄養家庭

Kiki has gone to a new foster and has a wonderful gentle Husky brother to cuddle up to.

Ginger has also gone to a foster home, where he’s receiving lots of love and cuddles.

Elvis also went back to his foster mom after she returned from her holiday.

Other news 其他訊息

Unfortunately Foxy has returned to the rescue centre. Although her new mommy and daddy worked very hard with her, after 45 days they still couldn’t get close to her. We are going to work with Foxy and hopefully she’ll be ready for adoption in the near future.

In November, Danica may need to come back to the centre from her foster home. She is wonderfully healthy now thanks to her foster mom and we hope to find her a home soon.

Rosy (the mixed Rottweiler) was unfortunately caught by the dog catcher this week. But she was quickly rescued and taken to the rescue centre. She has already gone into a foster home.

Rosanne (Rosy’s Rottweiler mom) has also gone into foster care, as we were very worried she would also get picked up by the dog catcher. She’s very well behaved.

Da Bau, the two-month-old puppy rescued last month, has come to the centre for treatment and to find a new forever home. He is very loving and can’t get enough kisses. He has big floppy ears and is the cutest thing. We are hoping he’ll find a loving home soon. ( photos: Dabau )

As always with all our rescues, we never put a dog or cat to sleep unless the animal is suffering greatly with little chance of recovery. We will always strive to make sure every animal is given the best treatment and best opportunity to live a happy and loving life.

We are able to continue these rescues and adoptions thanks to your generosity.

If you would like to be kept up-to-date with stories and photos on our progress, you can now check out our blog http://animalstaiwan.blogspot.com/

Please continue to check out our webpage and pass it on to friends or family members. There are always some wonderful dogs up for adoption, so if you have friends or family interested in adopting, please show them our website. www.animalstaiwan.org

Remember, adopting saves lives! Please educate those around you to get their animal desexed and micro-chipped to help decrease the stray population.
