Please Adopt Me : Mimi (3 month old kitten)

The winter is so cold that I became ill. Luckily some kind person took me to the vet. Now I am looking for a lovely home to make my own. I will be good! Please take me home!

One-year old Peanut looking for a place to stay~

Hi, my name’s Peanut. I’m a little over a year old and looking for a loving family. Like any kid, I love playing and of course stir up a little trouble from time to time, but I also love curling up on laps and taking cat naps. I like to be the center of attention, so I prefer to be an only pet, but I live with another cat right now and I have learned to adjust. My favorite toy is a wadded up piece of paper or anything else that easily moves. I’ve been fixed and of course I know how to use the litter box. I’m not picky about what I eat, but I sure do love my fish! Actually I like any leftovers you give me from the dinner table ;) The only thing I’m looking for is someone who will love and take care of me and I’ll be your friend for life.
please contact 02-2833-8820 or adoptions@animalstaiwan.org if you are interested in adopting.

Puppet and Mushroom safely arrived UK just now.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that thanks to everyone's help especially Mayumi, Lusan, Rita, Joey, Mare and Big Rita and Samuel Puppet and Mushroom have arrived safely in the UK.
Mayumi has spoken to Elizabeth and all is well, i also recieved a message from Elizabeth to say everything is great. She'll send photos when she gets home.
Thank you everyone for making this possible, yes it was a lot of work, yes it was expensive, but i believe it has been worth it. We've not only helped Puppet and Mushroom find a fantastic forever home, but we've also freed up space.
A fantastic start to the year of the Rabbit. I hope you are all well and enjoy hearing this news as much as i did.
You can check out the great photos on our facebook fan page of puppet and mushroom getting ready to go and at the airport thanks to Mayumi.

Elvis 's Cut

Elvis has a cut on one of his ankles. Luckily, we caught it early so it isn't too bad.

We have to clean his cut daily so it heals quickly and doesn't get worse.
Elvis is very good about letting us clean his cut. We let him know what a good boy he is after we finish changing his bandage and he seems quite proud of himself! :)

Elvis may be over 10 years old, but he's still an energetic dog. He is also still waiting for a loving home, just like the other furries here.

Please feel free to visit Elvis or even take him home!

Sophie Gets a Bath

We took Sophie to visit the vet and found out she needs to take weekly medicated baths. So, AT volunteers didn't waste any time and got Sophie ready to take her first bath.

Sophie was afraid of people, so we had to calm her down first

You can see that Sophie was very scared. This was the first time she ever had a bath!

A few minutes into her bath, Sophie calmed down.

The vet said that as long as Sophie takes one weekly bath, she should be all better in just two months. Let's pray for this sweetie to have a quick recovery!

We would like to thank everyone for helping Sophie. Not only is she unafraid of taking baths, she is no longer afraid of people! Please contact AT at 02-2833-8820 or adoptions@animalstaiwan.org if you are interested in giving Sophie a loving home.

George - Doberman Pinscher

My name is George and I'm a Doberman Pinscher. I'm big but I'm very friendly and well behaved. I'm only about a year old. I don't know if I got lost or was dumped. The people who found me have put up posters but no one has claimed me, so now I'm looking for a forever home. I was very thin when i was found but now I've put on some weight.
I'm currently in Beitou, Taipei, and invite you to come see me.

If you are interested in adopting me, please contact Animals Taiwan at 02-28338820 or email inquires@animalstaiwan.org

URGENT VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED

URGENT

VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED

DURING CHINESE NEW YEAR!

2 OR 3 NIGHTS OKAY!

Dear All

For about 10 years I've been feeding two packs of strays (and two cats) in the XinYi Area.

Each pack has about five dogs. BUT NOW I NEED HELP, A VOLUNTEER(S) TO HELP FILL IN MY PLACE DURING THE CHINESE NEW YEAR.

I will be away nine days from (Sat) Jan 29th to Feb 7th.

Already I have an old Canadian educated HwaQiao volunteer BUT HE's 75 YEARS OLD and can't cope with everything. But he'll faithfully show up. Any volunteer woulb be doing the nitty gritty work (like chopping up the dog food or cutting the bones) he can't do.

Ideally, I would like two or three volunteers so that each one would just have to work two or three nights.

If you volunteer I hope that you can come out at least one eveing with me this week to learn the routine and the details.

THIS IS NO ORDINARY GROUP OF DOGS. THEY HAVE BEEN VERY SPOILED AND PROTECTED AND ARE AFRAID OF MOST PEOPLE.

LOCATION

There are two chief sites of work.... One on SungZhi Road near the Kuma Supermarket and the other at 4-4-South Village (Next to XinYi Elemenatry School). TIME: USUALLY FROM 8 PM TO 10:30 (but this will likely change according to when the shops are open during Chinese New Year.

CALL ME: Need more info? Like to volunteer? Or see the work this week? Then call me CURTIS SMITH at

Tel 0987670007 or (w) 2725-5200 x 2655

Thanks for your interest, Curtis Smith

Koala's New Roommate

Dear all,
Koala is an adult now, so we have moved him to another room where he is happier. This room is bigger than his previous one, and it gives him more space to run around. He loves to play with Janet, his new roommate (Janet is popular with all the male dogs in that room). He also plays with Nico. Please come visit Koala next time you visit the rescue center~ :)

Sophie's Skin Condition

Dear all,
Sophie is one of the dogs rescued from Prof. Jia's shelter. We are sad to report that her skin condition has gotten worse lately. So, we are going to take her to visit a vet who specializes in treating animals with skin problems (the one who treated Addie).

Sophie was extremely timid and scared when she first arrived at the AT rescue center. But now she plays with staff and enjoys being pet. Please come to visit her and keep her company when you have time:)

Please contact 02-2833-8820 or inquiries@animalstaiwan.org if you would like to spend time with Sophie, sponsor her, or adopt her. Thank you!

Ziva Has Finally Been Spayed

Dear all,

Ziva was finally spayed last week. She recovered quickly and began playing with other paw friends at the center. It is still okay for her to have her period though. She is getting more comfortable being around people. Our staff are training Ziva to walk on a leash every day and she is making a lot of progress. Please come to the center to see her and take her for a walk. ^ ^

Ziva is one of the puppies that we found who were suffering from terrible skin problems. She has improved a lot! Thanks to everyone for all the support you've given to Animals Taiwan. Because of you, we can continue to help poor furries like Ziva.

Please click on the following link to see Ziva 's rescue story: http://animalstaiwan.blogspot.com/search?q=ziva

Please contact 02-2833-8820 or inquiries@animalstaiwan.org if you would like to help Ziva or Animals Taiwan in any way. Thank you.

Bonnie - the Burmese Mountain Dog

Hi my name is Bonnie and I'm a pure bred Bernese mountain dog. I was spotted by a nice person wandering around the riverbank. I wasn't looking too good and the nice person decided to contact Animals Taiwan for me. Luckily Animals Taiwan is actually just around the corner from where I was found. It took them two days to find me as I was hiding in the long grass, but eventually they spotted me and tempted me with food. I came over and let them put a lead on me. However, when they started walking me back to the centre I got scared of the cars and had to be carried. I'm now safe and sound at Animals Taiwan.

I'm going to get a full heath check and be spayed as soon as possible. AT has scanned for a chip but none was found so it looks like I was dumped.

I'm only 3 years old and I'm very gentle and loving. I'm just a bit scared at the moment as I've been fending for myself out on the streets and I really wasn't used to it.

I'm now looking for a loving home. Please contact the people at Animals Taiwan at inquires@animalstaiwan.org or call 02-28338820

Yep Skal is in the news again, She's a popular girl!

Hundreds of dogs ranging from Airedale terriers and Akitas to Welsh corgis took over Xinyi District last weekend for the sixth annual Taipei Pet Carnival (台北寵物跨年嘉年華).
About 90 companies and organizations were represented at the event, including about 30 animal advocacy groups. The Taipei Pet Carnival, which bills itself as the largest outdoor pet event in the country, was launched in 2006 by Wawa Public Relations (Wawa 國際公關) and is held outdoors every year at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi (新光三越) complex.
“Our goal is to let people and their animals have a day of fun together,” said Taipei Pet Carnival chief executive officer Chang Ching-lin (張靖霖). “In Taiwan pets don’t have a lot of opportunities to go out into the community.”
While canines were the most prominent of the carnival’s four-legged attendees, some rabbits and good-natured cats turned up. The pet products and services offered ranged from organic food and gel breath fresheners to studio portraits and neon hair dye.
Twenty-seven competitions included beauty contests, a dog Olympics and a rabbit show.
But while some pets were being spoiled by doting owners, others were looking for “forever homes.”
These included Skal, a beagle rescued by Animals Taiwan (台灣動物協會) after being injured in a road accident. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, Skal eagerly sniffed visitors and chased after other dogs, including Gina, another Animals Taiwan rescue whose front paw was amputated after being caught in an animal trap.
The group needs homes for 60 to 70 animals, but they are careful to find the right match, volunteer Michelle Lin (林青宜) said.
“We’ll have the dog meet the entire family first and make sure they are compatible,” she said. “We don’t want them to end up feeling like having a pet is a burden.”
The Taiwan Homeless Bunny Protection Association (台灣流浪兔協會), which set up a booth at the carnival for the first time this year, also seeks responsible pet owners.
Founder Liao Shue-ping (廖雪屏) said that the organization anticipates an increase in abandoned rabbits after the Lunar New Year

Update on Addie’s Skin Condition

Hello, my name is Addie.

I hope you can still recognize me, because my fur has started to fall out again.

Whenever the seasons change, my fur falls out. It’s kind of a bummer.

It’s not easy for a handsome guy like me to face the world without enough fur.

So, the vet recommended I start having baths again.

I know I'll have my handsome mug back soon, I just need to be patient.

If you have time, why not stop by the rescue center for a visit?

Please come and visit me...with or without fur~I love visitors!

Yours,
Addie
