Wow! November has been a jam packed month, with many rescues and quite a few adoptions as well as worthwhile events.

Our last Grandma Nitti’s flea market for this year will be on December 17th From 4pm to 10pm.
Also Animals Taiwan is putting out an appeal for any one who could donate a large refrigerator. One of ours has just broken and with Chinese New Year quickly approaching we’ll need one for the long holiday. Please contact our centre 02-28338820 if you can help in this area.

Mare who has been fostering Kiki, one of our blind cats, for a long time has decided to adopt her. Kiki has become one of the family and Mare couldn’t imagine her home without her. We are so happy for Kiki and know she’s in very good hands.
Denise who is Mistletoe’s foster mommy has also decided to adopt Mistletoe. Mistletoe was always a reserved and shy cat, but since living with Denise she has opened up and is becoming a loving house cat. Denise will be moving back to Canada next year and we’re looking for someone who would be able to take Mistletoe back to Canada for her.
Melody has also finally been adopted. Melody came up to us during a CNR project in the mountains. She’s been with us for a few months and has finally found her forever mommy.
Three more kittens have also found loving homes Puma, Zoro, and Sasha. We are so happy they have all gone to great homes where they will be loved forever.
And we are also so happy to announce that Henry the Poodle has gone on a tryout. Little Henry has gone on 3 tryouts so far and none of them have worked out for various reasons. Poor Henry never gave up though, he always has high sprits and greets everyone with love and kisses. He is the perfect companion and even though he is a senior dog he has a lot of energy and love to give. We hope this tryout goes well and Henry has finally found his forever home.

Three kittens were resced from an area near Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. We’ve named them Domino, Checkers and Ace. They came to us with Otodectes and Ascarid, but after medical care they are doing well and are very healthy, active and friendly. They now looking for forever homes.

One of our TNR volunteers rescued two wonderful cats Chien Chein and Xiao Dai. Poor Chein Chein was a victim of a car accident but after medical care and love and attention he has recovered well.

Xiao Dai had a serious eye infection which has left her blind, but as we have seen with our previous rescues this doesn’t hold her back. They are both very loving and affectionate cats and are now waiting for that special person to take them home.
SanBan was rescued from a TNR area in Taipei. She was found bleeding with a broken leg. Her leg was too badly hurt to heal so it was decided that she would be better off if it was removed. She has recovered well from her surgery and is now healthy. She is still a little wild but we are working with her to help her become more friendly and loving. We hope after a while she’ll settle down and we’ll be able to find her a loving home.
Hannah the Husky was rescued from a TNR area where people where feeding her but she was very thin and malnourished. She’d had a litter of five puppies about a month or so earlier. Four of the puppies had already been taken by people which just left one, Cartier. Cartier was taken into foster care and has already found a happy home. Hannah has now been spayed and is ready for her forever home. She’s super friendly to both people and other dogs and we’re sure she’ll find a home soon.
Baily the Border Collie/Collie mix was found wondering round a department store. He was very nervous and had no collar or microchip. He’s been neutered and vaccinated and is now looking for that loving home. He’s still a little nervous but has no aggression.
Four more kittens were rescued from a bus station. They are super friendly and loving. They are all healthy and we’ve named them Ramese, Kesi, Mesi and Tux. We know they will find loving homes very quickly.
Van Gogh was rescued a month or so ago by a lady and he’s been on several adoptions. However, because he was scared and not sure of his surroundings he was a little protective and could sometimes snap at people, so he was then sent to the Ping Shi shelter. We decided to put him in foster care to see if we could adust his temperamen. After a couple of weeks of foster care he has settled down well and now doesn’t snap at all. He knows what he is allowed to do and is a very loving dog. Van Gogh is a one eared red poodle. It seems he was born with only one ear and this could be a result of the bad breeding that goes on in Taiwan. We know Van will find a loving home soon.
A very sweet tiny kitten who we’ve named Alina was rescued while one of our volunteers was doing TNR. She’s very sweet and healthy and we know she’ll be snapped up soon.
A poor little doggie was hit by a car and has been severly paralyzed. He was very close to passing, but a couple of very kind volunteers helped him recover, but they soon realized they had taken on too much and couldn’t afford his care and also the time it takes to care for him. So they decided to take him to Taipei City Shelter. We have good relations with the shelter and we were called in to see if we could offer any help. We decided to do all we could to help this little boy.He is now at the centre under daily care. He has very bad open wounds on all his four legs and is unable to stand by himself at this point. We are looking into getting a specially made wheelchair for him. We will keep everyone updated on his progress.
North, South and West have gone into foster care and we hope with a little one on one attention they will soon find a loving home to call their own.
Not all our rescues go our way and we have some sad news this month.
A dog paralyzed from the waist down and with very swollen legsand paws was noticed lying in a park by one of our volunteers. He was taken immediately to the vet for care. Unfortunatly after 2 days of intensive care at the vet he still passed away. He was too weak and his injuries were too severe. We know he is in a better place now and we hope he felt loved and cared for in his last few days.
A little pup was caught during a CNR project. He was found to be very weak and had a neck injury. On further investigation it was found that he had a rubber band stuck around his neck, which had caused a serious infection and had damaged his windpipe. Unfortunately the little boy was too weak and tramatized by the injury and passed away during surgery.

During November we completed 90 cat TNRs. During the winter months we will see a slight decline in cat TNR as we need to make sure they are healthy and well before they can be caught and released. This brings the total since April up to 943.
Also during November we have completed 5 female and 8 male CNR dogs. CNR for dogs is always lower as we need to have space for them to recover before releasing them.

Moby and Me

We wanted to rescue a dog. I had just quit my job as a journalist in Singapore when we moved to Taiwan in April 2008. Trapped at home while my hubby Mun Yew slaved at work, I thought how nice to have a dog for companionship. I could take it with me on my hikes up Elephant Mountain or when I popped down the street to the Wellcome.

We had a look at the pet shops on Keelung Road and were quite taken with the puppies. But deep down, I felt it would be much better to give an abandoned dog a home. That’s how we found ourselves at the Animals Taiwan shelter in Beitou. It was our first time in any sort of animal shelter. The dogs were frantically barking and leaping up and down. Some had their legs amputated and were scurrying around in wheelchairs.

None really caught our eye but as we were leaving, Mun Yew spotted a long-haired dog that looked like a wolf. She stood on a table, high above the other dogs. She was calm and did not bark at all. When they took her out of the pen, she didn’t acknowledge us at all. “She’s a very shy dog,” said Arnold, the young volunteer there. “She’s not a dog dog.” What did that mean? She doesn’t like other dogs, he replied.

We later found out she didn’t even like people. In fact, she’s terrified of strangers - as well as umbrellas, suitcases, and anything that’s made of black leather. She had probably been cruelly abused. Moby was found by animal rescuers in Jinshan with a broken leg. She was tied to a tree and left to die.

With the two of us, from day one, she has been the best dog in the world. But if someone comes to our apartment, she goes beserk with fear. In the park, she tries to attack other dogs. At the vet, we have to muzzle her. I can’t take her up Elephant Mountain. I don’t even dare take her to the Wellcome.

We took her to Dr Dog, the training school. And quit after two classes. We bought celebrity dog whisperer Cesar Milan’s books and watched his TV show. Then came Angus, our Taiwanese dog trainer. Except he doesn’t train dogs, he trains owners. Be the pack leader, he would bellow in Chinese. Don’t spoil her.

During each session, we would make progress. But after he left, we were inconsistent. I hand fed her if she wouldn’t eat. Put her on my lap when she was upset. I flunked as an alpha male and Mun Yew was only marginally better.

Three years on, Moby has made some progress. She eats only after we give her the OK signal. She knows basic commands like “stay”, “rest” and “ball”. She never jumps onto the sofa or enters the bedrooms. She’s always so happy when we come home, relieved we haven’t abandoned her.

But she still goes berserk when someone comes to the house. She still attacks small dogs in the park. She’s not the type of canine companion I had in mind when I harassed the hubby for a dog. But through her, I’ve learnt to be more patient, more disciplined and more accepting of little flaws. I’ve learnt that you don’t always get what you want but that life can be more interesting and fulfilling because of that. And, best of all, our dog’s brought us closer together. We set out to rescue a dog but in many ways, Moby rescued us.

Sunita and Mun Yew moved back to Singapore at the end of 2011. They took Moby with them.

A few days ago, the lost and homeless ducky was brought to our shelter, and it was old and almost blind. Yesterday, one of our staffs took it to vet for scanning chip to find out where it's master was and help it home. Fortunately, throught chip registration we rapidly contacted it's master and she went fastly to bring it home.

August has been a very fulfilling month with many adoptions and lots going on. We are still preparing for our first ever Gala Ball and have been overwhelmed with the support from our sponsors.

Also our TNR projects have been in full swing. We are now working with many volunteers and vets around the Taipei area and what’s more the government is now starting to listen and see how successful we are.

We’ve continued helping the Ping Shi shelter and have had great success with adoptions from there.

We’ve also started an online flea market on our facebook page where everyone can see our items for sale and get great bargains while helping the needy animals.

Adoptions and Fostering

We’ve had a total of 13 successful adoptions this month and hope to continue this great momentum.

We’ve had many puppies come into the centre recently from CNR projects and from various other rescues.

Rome and Naples are from the CNR project last month in Hsin Tien and have now found loving homes.

Surf is one of the four puppies dumped on our doorstep one hot morning. He has now been adopted into a loving home.

Soybean the last puppy from the Mucha drain pipe rescue has finally found a loving mum and it means that everyone at AT still gets to see her. Our staff member ShiTing has adopted Soybean and they are inseparable.

East, one of the four puppies from another CNR project in Hsin Tien has also found a loving home. We hope his brothers and sisters are going to be as lucky.

We are so happy to report that Foxy and A-Mei two of our longer term doggies have been adopted. We were worried about Foxy because although she is beautiful and a small breed dog, she is very shy and nervous around people. However, finally a loving family who are willing to look past this have taken her home. She’s doing much better and now comes to sit by her new mommy.

Ninja, who was brought out of the Ping Shi shelter found a new home within 7 days. He’s a very loving boy and we knew he’d find a home quickly.

Everyone was sad and happy to see A-Mei go to her new home. A-Mei has been the star of many of our events and everyone who comes to our centre gets a kiss and a cuddle from her. She has finally found her forever home and is doing great.

Two of the cats that we brought down from the Ping Shi shelter were adopted quite quickly. Danish the ginger and white boy and Bibi the smaller white Persian. Both have gone to loving homes and can finally get the attention and love they deserve.

Little Nami is the first of the 4 little black kittens to be adopted into a loving home and w hope her brothers and sisters will also find loving homes soon.

We’re also really happy that two of our adult cats, Ningbau and Peanut found loving homes.

We are always happy to report adoptions and it gives us the drive to push harder and try to find homes for all our loving furry friends. Many people over look the adult cats and dogs as they don’t think they will be as easy to train or adapt to a new home. This isn’t true, given the chance all our furry friends will adapt quickly and be more than willing to get some training. All they need is love.

On the fostering front we are happy to report that Julian, one of our wheelchair dogs, has been taken into foster care by one of our board of directors. Julian was having problems with his legs and needed more one on one care. He has already started to put on weight and is zooming around his new home showing his new foster brothers and sisters how fast he can go.

Rescues 救援

A feeding lady near our centre was feeding the dogs one morning when Awang, one of the dogs she feeds run out of the bushes and straight into the road. He as badly hit by a car and was in terrible pain. The feeding lady didn’t know how to handle the situation as this dog has a reputation of not being so friendly, so she called us. We went out and managed to catch Awang without too much trouble. After a vet check up it was found that he had a broken spine and wouldn’t be able to use his back legs. He has had treatment and now has a new BMW wheelchair. It took him some time to get used to the chair but finally he’s now on the mend. He spent most of August with us and now the feeding lady has taken him back and will continue to look after him.

A supporter of Animals Taiwan found 4 little kittens in a box dumped on the side of the road. Vivi, Nami, Zoro and Luffy were very small and needed help with feeding. The rescuers took them in and helped them until they were able to eat by themselves. Then they were brought to our centre for adoption. Nami has already gone to a loving home.

One morning our neighbours came running over to our centre to let us know that 4young puppies had been dumped on our doorstep. It was a hot August morning and the puppies had no shade, food or water. We did catch the lady on camera dumping the puppies on our doorstep and we have reported her to the authorities. It was irresponsible of her to do this and endangered the puppies’ lives. Luckily, they were ok and we found them quickly. Flash, Charlotte, Little Cotton are doing well. Surf has already been adopted.

We got a call from a volunteer about 3 puppies in the mountains where she goes for her morning walk. She informed us that one of the puppies couldn’t walk properly and was dragging her back legs. We set off out to find her and it took quite awhile driving round the mountains. Eventually, we found the spot and got out of the car and called. Violet made a whining sound and we rushed to the bush to find her. She let us pick her up and quickly gave us a kiss. After the vet examined her it was found that she has a malformed spine, either from birth or she was hit by a car or something very early on in life. As the spine isn’t broken she still has feeling in her back legs and can move them, she’s just unable to stand up. The vet feels that with the help of a sling and a wheelchair she’ll start to build muscles in her legs and her spine should start to straighten out. She’s already looking much better and wants nothing more than cuddles.

This month we took two dogs and a kitten from the Ping Shi shelter.

Ninja, small white dog, who is very friendly and playful, got adopted within 7 days of being at our centre. He’s now very happy in his new home getting the love and attention he craves.

Hucky, brown Husky, will be flying to Seattle in September. We decided to take her out of the shelter and send her to America as Taiwan is not the right climate for a Husky and she was learning bad habits being in the shelter. Huskies need a lot of exercise and also mental stimulation which she wasn’t getting at the shelter. She’s off to an animal behaviourist in Seattle where she’ll receive training before finding a loving new home.

We also took a little kitten, Joker, as there isn’t much chance of this kitten being adopted while being in the mountains at the Ping Shi shelter.

Shorty was brought to our centre after being caught during a TNR project. She’s friendly and has a chance to find a good home. Unfortunately she has FIV; however, this won’t stop us persevering to find a loving home for her.

While in the Tiamue mountains on a CNR project we came across a mother and 8 puppies. We realized that these little boys and girls wouldn’t survive long in the mountains so we decided to take them in to find them new homes. One of our wonderful volunteers and supporters has taken them in and has already found homes for 4of them. We have our fingers crossed that the rest of them will find loving homes soon.

A little kitten now named Cha-cha was found under a car. He had many wounds on his body and was found to have bad diarrhoea and malnourished. After receiving treatment Chacha recovered fully and has already found a forever home.

Finally some bad news, a little kitten was rescued after a bad car accident. He was taken to a vet immediately, but his injuries were too severe and he was in a lot of pain with not much chance of recovery. The vet suggested that we let this little boy pass on as the pain was too great for him. We hope he is now happy and without pain.

CNR/TNR 捕捉-結紮-原地放回

As we’ve already mentioned our TNR project in Taipei is fully underway, in July 156cats were captured, neutered and returned to their feeding areas. August is looking as though it will surpass these numbers. So far since April 388 cats have been caught. We will be continuing this project and keeping the government updated on the progress and data received.

We also caught 2 female and 1 male dogs from the Tiamue mountain where there are many stray dogs.

Hucky is going to Seattle today!!

Hucky will take the flight today!! let's cross our fingers for her.

We're still raising money for Hucky as she'll be leaving on 13th September for the US. We not only need to pay for her flight which will be quite expensive as she's over 30kg but we will also have to buy a new crate as she's so big.

We expect costs to come to over $20,000
as of Today August 30th we've raised $11,000

Animals Taiwan July News letter

As in true Taiwanese style the weather is continuing to be hot! Hot! Hot! But this isn’t slowing us down. Usually during the summer months adoptions slow down as people are away on vacation and prefer to wait until they are back and settled to make decisions on adopting, but we have had a success month of adoptions and with the new arrival of Mary on our adoption team we hope for even more good news as the months continue.

During June we were informed about a shelter run by an older lady in the Ping Shi mountains. This lady has over 150 dogs and over 50 cats. We went to take a look around and see how we could help her. She has a good set up in the mountains, it’s clean and she takes good care of the dogs which are all vaccinated, chipped and spayed or neutered.

However, we are concerned about the cats. Many of the cats were supposed to be TNR cats, but this lady didn’t have the heart to release them. Now on first impressions of this you would think that this is a good thing for the cats. However, many of these cats are feral and don’t like to be kept in cages with other cats. They have lived their lives in the wild and much prefer it this way.

Also the lady keep all the cats in large pens, again which sounds good, but this increases the chance of the spread of disease and of fighting. Because none of the cats were tested before being put into the main population, many of them have various diseases and they are spreading. We have already taken out 5 cats, two of which have FIV and one schnauzer.

We are helping advertise a few of the other more adoptable dogs as well. We have decided to continue to work with this lady and help her as much as possible, with food, education and of course adoption. It is a strain on our financial position but we can’t turn our backs on these animals. Once we have animals going out of the centre we will go and collect animals from her whether it be cats or dogs. All will be tested first and then assessed for adoption.

Rescues
While completing the CNR project in the Hsin Tien mountains we came across a female dog with 3 puppies. Once we caught the mother we decided to take her and her puppies to the centre. The mother was spayed and then stayed at the centre for 3 weeks while the puppies where being weaned. The mother wasn’t comfortable at the centre so we decided to release her back to her Aixian mama in the mountains. However, we kept the puppies. The three puppies are doing well and are playful and healthy. One of the puppies has already been adopted and we hope the other two will soon follow to happy loving homes. We named them Rome, Naples and Florence.

Also in the same mountain area while doing CNR we noticed a male Red Poodle. He let us catch him and we noticed how malnourished he was and covered from head to toe with ticks. We immediately got him medical attention and tested. He tested negative and was deemed to be healthy. However, the poor boy only had one ball, which was removed, but in the future we have to watch for any problems. He’s been named Ronald and he’s up for adoption. He’ll need a patient family as he has food protection issues from living outside for so long.

A friend of Animals Taiwan called us up about 3 kittens dumped in a box by the riverside. She was very concerned about them and normally would have taken them in and fostered them. However, she was leaving for Canada in a few days and wouldn’t be back for 2 months. So we decided to take in the two month old kittens. All are healthy and very playful. We named them Twinkle, Clint and Eastwood (we were watching a Clint Eastwood movie ;-) All have been successfully adopted.

Another Red Poodle this time female was seen wandering the streets, she was taken in to be fostered and very quickly found a new loving home.

Another kitten was rescued after getting stuck in a building. We couldn’t find her mother of any of her siblings. We named her Angel and she’s very sweet and shy. She is at the centre waiting for that loving home.

Nono was taken from the Ping Shi shelter. She’s a female Schauzer and very calm and loving. We knew she’d find a home quickly if she was in a place where people could visit her. She was snapped up in 7 days.

Suri, Darius, Bibi, Casper and Danish are the 5 cats we took from the Ping Shi shelter. Four of them are Persian cats and all of them are loving and friendly and just need the chance to been seen. Unfortunately Suri and Darius have FIV. This is not too much of a problem for adoption as long as the new family doesn’t have other cats. We hope these loving cats can finally have the special care and attention they deserve.

A black Shiba Inu was found by a pet store with serious skin problems. She was taken to the vets for a check up and a chip scan and we were happy when we found a chip. However, the chip was never registered which means we have no way of finding the owners. We have put up lost and found posters and posted on lost and found websites. We’ll wait a couple of weeks to see if anyone comes forward, if not then She’ll be up for adoption and we hope she can finally be in a loving home.

CNR/TNR

We are having continued success with our TNR program in the Taipei area. The volunteers are working hard to catch the cats and once they are spayed or neutered safely return them to their feeding stations.

We have nearly completed the CNR program in both Hsin Tien areas. During July we caught over 20 dogs of which more than 15 were female. All have been released back and are doing well. We still have a couple more females and males to catch in these areas. However, because now the free clinic is closed we are in desperate need of funding for the spay and neuter operations. We want to continue and make sure the areas are 100% and we can only do this with funding.

While trying to catch the dogs in the Hsin Tien area, we have accidentally caught 4 cats which have gone into our dog traps. We have taken these cats for spay and neutering and they have also been safely returned. However, one was deemed too sick to be spayed and is staying with us until she is recovered.

Adoptions and Fostering
There has been a total of nine adoption/tryouts this month and we’re very excited and pleased about everyone of them.

All three kittens found by the river have been adopted into different loving homes. We know they will give their new owners much joy and love.

Sunny the shy little ginger kitten was adopted together with Clint so she’ll have a brother to show her the ropes on being a playful kitten.

Jackbean was actually the first to go out, our brave, talkative little ginger male. He’s happily letting his new owner know how much he loves him.

Florence one of the rescued puppies from the mountains where we are doing CNR was also quickly adopted out. We have our fingers crossed that her two brothers will also be quickly adopted.

We are so happy that our little Yatou the elderly Maltese has also gone to a loving home and we have had reports from her new mom that she’s doing wonderfully.

Hi Everyone,

Here is the monthly update with a few added photos. Please pass this on to whomever you feel should recieve it.

Summer has really arrived and in true Taiwanese style with hot hot mornings and afternoons with a few thunderstorms thrown in here and there. As people are preparing for their summer vacations in June, we’ve found it to be a quiet month for visitors and adoptions. However, our rescues haven’t slowed down.

Rescues

While out doing CNR in the Hsin Tien mountains, little Melody decided to come and see what was going on. She meowed and followed the volunteer, so the volunteer decided the mountain life wasn’t for her. She picked her up and sent her off to the clinic with the other dogs she caught that day. But Melody wasn’t put back, she has been taken to the centre and is looking for that loving home.

Bilbo the Beagle was found wandering the streets. He was in a bad way with very long nails, infected eyes and a bad skin condition. He had no energy and was malnourished. He was taken into a foster home and found to be the perfect gentleman. He’s well behaved and gets along with cats and dogs alike. He rarely barks and is recovering well. On first looks he was thought to be an old boy, but on further investigation he is only about 3 years old. He’ll stay in foster care until he is adopted.

YaTou a female Maltese was rescued from the streets by an AT volunteer after seeing her wandering round with matted fur. She was sent immediately to the groomers where she was finally freed of her matted and painful fur. She also had an eye infection and a bad skin problem from the matting. She is recovering well and will be coming to the centre for adoption. This little lady, only 3 kg, is a survivor and we’ll do everything we can to find her that loving home.

Ningbaou is another cat that wandering into an area where a volunteer was doing CNR. He is also very affectionate and loving so we want to give him the chance to be in a loving home.

Animals Taiwan was asked to investigate a kitten stuck in a tree! So off we went. We found little Sunny trying to hide her head in a hole in a tree, you know the "I can't see you so you can't see me" trick. We gently took her out and found that she was in good condition, just a little scared. She'll be staying in the center and looking for a home.

Jackbean was rescued from the streets with serious dehydration and malnourished. He was basically skin and bone. He’s been under treatment and now he’s much better and more active. He loves attention and won’t let you walk by him without a little scratching of his head. He is at the center looking for a new home.

4 puppies ( North, South, East and West) were rescued from the HsinTien mountains. They all had a skin problem due to bad immune systems. However, after some good food and medical treatment they have recovered well. A couple of them are a little shy but the others are bouncy little puppies who just want to be loved. They are at the centre waiting for their forever homes.

Rocky the Golden Retriever was found abandoned on the street. An AT friend found her and is fostering her. She is well behaved and very quiet. She is also looking for a loving new home.

A mother dog was brought into a vet just about to labor. However, the mother didn’t survive. She had 4 bouncing Husky mixed puppies though and the vet couldn’t turn them away so raised them all by hand. AT is helping the vet to find loving homes for these 4 bundles of joy.

Since April AT along with volunteers and Aixin mamas have completed over 230 TNR cats successfully. This program is on going and we’ll continue to update you on our progress.

We have also been working hard on the dog CNR in Hsin Tien. We are working closely with 3 different feeding ladies and in June we were able to catch, neuter and return 12 dogs and 2 cats. Of the 12 dogs 11 were females. All are doing well and the feeding ladies are keeping an eye on them. We are continuing with CNR in this area until 100% of the dogs have been spayed and neutered.

Adoptions and Fostering
As we said it has been a bit of slow month for adoptions, but we are pleased that the few we have gotten adopted have gone to fantastic homes.

Oliver, the orphaned puppy, is now in a loving home with a big brother. He’s loving his daily mountain walks and is getting lots of love and attention.

Koala has finally been adopted into the perfect home. The couple were looking for a guard dog who would bark and alert them to intruders, now this is what Koala is good at. He’s loving his new home and the freedom to bark.

Peanut has gone on his second tryout, we have our fingers crossed that this time will be forever.

Pumpkin the mommy of previous kittens has found her very own loving home and is living the life of luxury.

We are very grateful for out foster mommies and daddies, without them many of our animals would not be adopted as they would not have adapted so well to family life. Mei Mei the Persian cat has gone into an experienced cat home so she can become more socialized and friendly. Also Helen and Keller have gone into a foster home together until they are adopted.

More news
Dahuahua ‘s foster mom is unable to take care of Dahuhua anymore. However, her friend found another cat Peanut who is friendly and loving and would be easier to adopt. So we’ve done a swap for the time being. Peanut has come to our centre and Dahuhua has gone to a new foster home.

And finally some sad news. Long John one of our long residence at Animals Taiwan was put to sleep. He has been fighting a brave battle with kidney failure for many years now and although the vets have said he was a miracle dog, we knew it was finally time to let Long John rest. He has left a large hole in all our hearts and will never be forgotten. He always had a wagging tail and kisses for everyone who came to the centre. He will be missed, but we know he is now in doggie heaven roping around without any pain. R.I.P Long John you have inspired us all.

Animals Taiwan was asked to help a kitten who was stuck in a tree! So off we went. We found little Sunny trying to hide her head in a hole in a tree, you know the old "I can't see you, so you can't see me" trick. We gently took her out and found that she is in good condition. She's just a little scared. She'll be going to visit the vet and we hope that she will pass with flying colors.

YaTou ( Maltese ) is looking for a home or foster home

YaTou is a Maltese. She was rescued from the street. Her fur was so matted and looked so painful that we decided taking her for a groomer right away. She also had eyes infection. After the groomer, we could see that there are several skin problem because the wet messy fur. After few days in the vet, she now is already pretty healthy. YaTou is about 8 years old , friendly , sweet lady. She barks only while she is really excited. Summer is upon us and things are heating up. We are continuing to work hard on our cat TNR program. We are gaining a lot of support from both volunteers and the government. We hope that once this program is fully operational and more results come in we can prove to the government that the next step should be the recognition of dog CNR.

As summer does approach we have to change our centre times, we won’t be allowing dogs to be walked between the times of 12pm and 2pm. It is far too hot for both the dogs and the volunteers.

We are also putting on an Animals Taiwan Gala dinner on September 30th for the World Animal Day. If you would like to buy tickets for this event or would like to sponsor this event please contact Mayumi@animalstaiwan.org for more details.

We’ve had a busy month of rescues and adoptions and we hope to continue to step up our adoption program.

Rescues
We were called up about a hit and run in BeiTou. A wonderful calm dog we’ve named Lucky was a victim of a vicious hit and run. She suffered from a broken leg and jaw. However, after surgery she is recovering well and can now walk by herself unaided. She will stay at the centre waiting for adoption

Victim number two of a hit and run is Prince. A guard called one of our volunteers, Mary, to inform her that one of the dogs she feeds had been hit by a car. Prince had run off and we weren’t able to find him. However, a couple of days later the guard called again to let us know that Prince had reappeared. We quickly went over and picked him up. He suffered from a broken leg and had received surgery. He’s recovering well and is ready for adoption.

We were asked by the LCO clinic if we could take in two blind kittens. They suffered from Hepititus when they were younger which left one completely blind and the other blind in one eye. We knew they didn’t have any other option so we have taken them in and are looking for forever homes for them both. They are very healthy and smart little kittens and their blindness doesn’t hold them back at all. Helen and Keller are at our centre waiting for that special person.

We received a call about a tiny puppy who was probably rejected by his mother in the mountains. We went to pick him up and found Oliver a 2 week old puppy whose eyes hadn’t opened yet and would require bottle feeding. He took well to the bottle and has grown into a healthy brave little boy. He’s now looking for that special home.

We were asked to help with 4 little kittens who were only a few weeks old rescued from a market area in Taipei. These little kittens were friendly and very curious. They came to our centre and were adopted very quickly and are now living happily in wonderful homes.

After receiving a call about 3 puppies (Sesame, Peanut and Soybean) living in a drain area we headed over there to see what was happening. Our first attempt at catching them failed but we didn’t give up and went back the following day to try again. Luckily with some help we caught all three puppies. They were living in a very dangerous place with the chance of getting stuck in the drainage system. 2 of the 3 puppies have been adopted already.

Pumpkin was rescued during one of our TNR evenings. She had just had kittens and we decided that she was too friendly to put back on the streets. We kept her together with her babies until they were ready for adoption. All her kittens were quickly adopted into good homes. Now Pumpkin is at our centre waiting for adoption.

Four cute puppies were dumped on a volunteer of ours, Mary. All four of the puppies were diagnosed with serious skin problems and have had to be kept separate from all other dogs. Unfortunately one of the puppies didn’t make it as he contracted a stomach bug as well and he just wasn’t strong enough to fight it. The remaining 3 are doing well and will continue to receive treatment until they are healthy enough to be adopted.

Ah Hua, a young kitten, was also rescued on one of our TNR evenings. She was very quickly adopted and is now living a life of luxury.

ChioChio a lovely dog was found abandoned near a farm. We helped to rescue her and get her spayed and vaccinated and she was quickly adopted and now lives happily in her new home.

To date we have spayed and neutered over 160 cats. We have an extremely dedicated team working on t
his and more and more vets are joining the scheme. We hope to have even more good news as times goes on.

Adoptions As we’ve already mentioned quite a lot of our younger animals have been adopted. Two of the three drain puppies have been adopted, Sesame and Peanut, all 4 of the kittens rescued from the market area have been adopted, as have Pumkin’s kittens and Ah Hua.

We are also really happy to announce that Eggmond our disabled cat who had a badly fractured pelvis and leg has been adopted. His new mommy loves him so much and he’s now living a life of happiness.

Owa was adopted last month but was returned due to family issues. However, Owa being the lovely cat she is was quickly snapped up after a short return to the centre. Everything is going well and we wish Owa and her new mom all the luck in the world.

Mary, an AT volunteer, has been rescuing puppies and dogs for a while now, recently with the help of AT she has adopted out 10 doggies, (Spotty, Buddy, Junior, Bruno, Belle, Little Lady, Tiger and 3 other dogs from her community guard station).

More news
We’ve had a few returns from foster care which include Dahuahua a wonderful cat. She’s ready for adoption and we hope to see her find her forever home soon.

Also Daisy our Rotwieler mix. Her foster family are returning to the States so Daisy has come back to us. She’s fallen in love with Mustard and all of our staff and volunteers have fallen in love with her. She is an extremely sweet natured young dog and we hope to find her that special home soon.

We have enjoyed some really great group visits from Taipei European School. They have tried to come by once a week to learn about our centre and the work we do and take our furries for a walk. It is wonderful to see the younger generation enjoying volunteer work and learning about the care of our animals. It’s good to see what responsible adults they will grow into.

As always with all our rescues we never put a dog or cat to sleep unless the animal is suffering greatly with not much chance of recovery. We will always do our best to make sure every animal is given the best treatment and best opportunity to live a happy and loving life.

The Story of Raju

Raju is a stray dog who was rescued after becoming the victim of a hit and run accident in Hsinchu. He had surgery yesterday on his fractured leg and is currently recuperating at the animal hospital. Update on Oliver, the Orphan Puppy

Oliver is doing great! He's just over a month old now and is eating on his own. It seems he's even crate trained himself. He pees in his cage but waits for me to let him out to go poop. ( I keep him in a big cage when I'm not home to keep him safe). He plays with the big dogs and cats. He's been de-wormed and once old enough he'll be vaccinated.

Update on the dogs that were in car accidents

Remember the 2 dogs we rescued a few days ago who had been victims in car accidents?

The photos above show the brown dog, who is now called Lucky, not long after he had an operation on his pelvis. He will rest up for 10 days before returning to the vet for a check-up.
The other photos show the black dog, who is now called Prince, just after his operation. He has a metal cast on his leg to keep it straight. He'll return to the vet in 10 days to see how things are going.

Ban Traps Event 15th May 2011

Animals Taiwan attented an event to bring more awareness to the cruel and evil use of traps. These traps are sold to the public and are used for maiming and killing animals.

April's monthly email update

First of all we’d like to apologize as our webpage has been under reconstruction and it has been hard for everyone to find information on our animals and our other goings on. We had to completely change our website after we had a hacker damage our previous page. This has caused a depletion in donations. We hope that with our new website up and running we’ll start to regenerate more generous donations so we can keep doing what we do best and that’s helping the poor animals of Taiwan.

Spring is finally upon us and the weather has been good. We were lucky that the sun was shining on our Super Spring Cleaning! Over 20 volunteers turned up and worked tirelessly to help clean up and reorganize the centre. It was a long hot day, but that didn’t deter our volunteers and the outcome was amazing. We hope to have another of these so we can keep our centre a safe and clean environment for our furry friends and visitors.

Rescues 救援
Eggmond the cat is believed to be another victim of a hit and run. He was dragging his hind legs down the road and was spotted by a kind lady who feeds the local cats. She quickly picked him up and took him to the LCO clinic for treatment. He is unbelievably friendly and loving. His legs have been badly injured as has his tail. He has under gone an operation and is in good spirits. He is able to go to the bathroom by himself and is starting to use his back legs all be it in a funny fashion. He is staying in centre now for care and looking for a loving home.

Mei Mei the cat was rescued from the Neihu shelter. She had been sick and was set to be killed within a few days. Little did she know her luck was about to change! A volunteer took her home and restored her back to health. She's now staying at our centre and looking for that loving home.

Mary, a supporter of AT, has recently rescued many puppies and dogs. AT is helping her to find homes for the dogs and puppies. She has had quite a success so far and out of more than 10 puppies she now only has 5 left up for adoption. Animals Taiwan is also assisting Mary with CNR in her mountain area, where there are over 30 dogs which she feeds daily.

Goliath is a Great Dane mix and was noticed in the mountain area sitting at a bus stop. He was very thin but extremely friendly. An AT volunteer took him to the clinic to be neutered and to have a blood test. Unfortunately he was found to have a tick born disease. He was given medication and the plan was to keep an eye on him in the mountains until a space came up at the centre or in a foster home. Unfortunately after a few days Goliath went missing. It was noticed that another person was feeding him and we hope that he has been taken in and given a good home. We did check for many days the local shelters and dog pounds but he hadn’t been taken in by any of them. We are praying he has found a good home and is doing well.

Hercules a cat was noticed to be very weak and dehydrated. He was captured and taken to see the vet. He was basically under nourished and quite old. He was taken into foster care. He was given daily medication and nourishing food. He had started to recover well and was getting quite feisty. On the day when he was to return to the vet for a check up, he managed to escape from the cage. He is now living outside the volunteer’s house and comes back for food. We will try to catch him again and make sure he finishes his medication.

Mei Mei was on the list for CNR when it was noticed she had a very nasty wound around her waste. We contacted the factory workers and asked if they would be able to assist in catching her. Once she was caught it was obvious that she had been caught in some wire snare trap but had somehow gotten loose. Luckily her wounds weren’t too serious; she was stitched up and put on antibiotics. She was also spayed at the same time. The factory workers were willing to help give her her daily medication and she has made an amazing recovery.

AT assisted a feeding lady to take one of her mountain dogs to the vet for spaying. It was a friendly German Shepherd. She was well behaved but really didn’t want to leave her feeding lady. The lady has many dogs which she feeds in various mountain places but has kept up on the spaying and neutering. We were happy to assist her with this one.

To date we are up to 61 cats in our TNR project since March. We are working with several groups and feeding ladies to get each and every area completed. We are keeping records of the quantity of the cats and their sex, which we will report to the government at various intervals. Once the government can see how well this method works they will hopefully give us the go ahead on dogs.

Adoptions 認養
Last month little Mini got adopted leaving behind her two rescue friends Gigi and Winnie. This month, both Gigi and Winnie have gone to loving homes. They are both doing extremely well and finally receiving the love and attention they deserve.

Lexie has finally been adopted by her foster mommy and daddy. When they knew people were interested in Lexie they knew they just couldn’t let her go. They quickly signed the contract and Lexie is now an official member of the family.

Doodle, Lexie’s rescue friend, also got adopted this month and is getting thoroughly spoilt. Her mommy is constantly amazed at how smart Doodle is.

Boo has gone on a tryout and we have our fingers crossed. This just leaves her sister Betty. We hope that Betty will also soon go to a loving home.

Pat and Coco have both gone to live on a tourist farm area down south. The land owner needed dogs that liked to bark and run around so as to scare off the monkeys which can cause major problems for the tourists. They are loving their new freedom and are working hard to keep the area a monkey free zone.

Mistletoe has gone to a fantastic foster home where she can learn to socialize more and get properly house trained. She’s doing really well and her foster mom has regular conversations with her.

Henry was returned from his tryout. Unfortunately his new mommy’s grandfather was seriously ill and she needed to attend to him constantly at the hospital which meant she wouldn’t have the time to properly spend with Henry. So Henry is still looking for that loving home.

We are still desperately looking for foster homes for Daisy the Rottweiler mix and Danica who needs a home without other dogs to recover from her spay operation.

This month we also welcome on board a new staff member, Shi Ting. She is our new animal care supervisor and is doing a fantastic job so far. She’s settled in well and the animals absolutely love her.

Two hit and runs in one week

This week Animals Taiwan received two separate calls about hit and run accidents involving dogs.
The first one was in the north of Taipei, a feeding lady whom we help with CNT/TNR called us about a dog which had been hit by a car and couldn't walk. She had no transportation so couldn't get it to us. We went out but didn't find the dog. We called the feeding lady and asked her to call us when she next saw the dog and to stay with it until we got there. She called us back after a little while and we went to find the dog. This time we found it. He was in a bad way and couldn't move. He was scared but seemed to know we wanted to help him. He's friendly and we feel he has a great chance of getting back on his feet, literally. He has a broken jaw and suspected hip and leg fractures. He will be receiving medical treatment and we'll keep you updated on his progress.
The second one was in Hsin Tien. Again a feeding lady who we are in contact with to help with CNR/TNR and adoptions called us about a male dog in a hit and run. The feeding lady had actually called us a few days before to say this dog had been hit. However, due to adrenalin he had run off and hadn't been seen since. Sunday night, however, he was spotted. We asked the feeding lady to stay with him and we drove out to pick him up. Again he was scared and confused but he let us help him without any fight. He is a little luckier than the first one and only has a leg fracture. He has a great deal of swelling so we will have to wait until the swelling goes down before he can be operated on.
Both of these dogs will under go operations and we will keep them safe while they are recuperating.

Newest rescue : 2 month old Puppies need homes~

Animals Taiwan recieved a call about 3 puppies hiding in a drain pipe/ditch in Mucha. So we went to investigate and we found Soybean, Sesame, and Peanut hiding in a hole near the drain area. While they were safe for the moment, there was a deeper hole next to where they were hiding, which was sure to be flooded once it starts raining. The three of them looked healthy but a bit scared.
Rita dived in and brought them out one by one. They screamed a bit during the rescue, but quieted down once they realized they were safe.
We'll be keeping an eye out for the mother so we can get her spayed ASAP.
The three pups are at the centre, where they will be examined and vaccinated. They are a little shellshocked, but with love and care they'll soon open up.
All three are now looking for loving homes.

MeiMei, a beautiful cat up for adoption

Mei Mei was rescued from the Neihu shelter. She had been sick and was set to be killed within a few days. Little did she know her luck was about to change! A volunteer took her home and restored her back to health. She's now looking for that loving home.

Anna 's first bath

Lovely Anna was so afraid of people that we could never give her a bath. But over time she has made great progress. We have been able to gain her trust and last Sunday we were even able to give her a bath! Anna was a real trooper and cooperated with us very well. She even let us clean her ears and cut her nails! Eggmond the Cat - Looking for that special loving home!

Eggmond is believed to be another victim of a hit and run. He was spotted by a kind lady who feeds the local cats dragging his hind legs down the road. She quickly picked him up and took him to the LCO clinic for treatment. He is unbelievably friendly and loving.

His legs have been badly injured as has his tail. He has under gone an operation and is in good spirits. He is able to go to the bathroom by himself but at the moment is not able to walk. We are helping him every day to make his legs stronger and hopefully he'll be able to recover and start to walk, all be it a little funny. If he is unable to use his hind legs at all we will consider amputation.

March monthly update

March has been a good and bad month. Spring has finally arrived which means we have some great days of sunshine, but it also means we have quite a bit of rain, too. We’ve had a lot of rescues and adoptions. However, not all of the rescues have been successful and we’ve had to say goodbye to a few angels. We have some great projects in the pipeline. One of which is our TNR program working alongside the government and also other organizations to bring down the population of both stray cats and dogs. Another is our major spring cleaning happening in April. We hope to get many volunteers involved in sprucing up the centre and making everything not only much cleaner but also organize so that everything will be much easier to maintain.

Rescues
We received a call about two abandoned red poodles in the city. When we arrived we found two very thin and extremely matted red poodles, one male and one female. We named them Romeo and Juliet. They were taken to the grooming parlor first for some pampering and then on to the vet for a health check and spaying and neutering. Both were healthy and found new homes very quickly.

While coming back from walking her own dogs, one of our Board members saw a very scruffy looking small white dog, well at least she thought it was a dog. She decided to take it in as it looked very uncomfortable. After one and a half hours of shaving, a white poodle (or Bichon Frise) appeared. He was relieved to have finally gotten rid of the worst matting we’ve ever seen. We named him Henry. He was taken for a proper grooming the following day and then on to the vets for a check up. He had very bad teeth and it was found that his vocal cords had been cut. He is a lively and healthy boy and was soon snapped up for a tryout out. We have our fingers crossed for him.

A 3 month old puppy was rescued from a bad hit and run where her brother was fatally injured. Bisty survived but not without injuries. She had a broken pelvis and fractures in both legs. However, Bitsy is a fighter. She has recovered fully and is now in foster care. She loves being around people and other dogs and is now enjoying daily walks with her foster brothers and sisters. She still has a slight limp, but it doesn’t stop her running around and enjoying life with the other furries. She’s looking for that loving forever home she deserves.

Life, a female Border Collie, was abandoned in the middle of a busy road. She didn’t get along with her first foster family and it was known that she would probably suit a one dog house hold who knew how to train her. She came to Animals Taiwan and was quickly adopted into a loving home where she is getting the training and the exercise a dog like this needs.

Murphy, a one month old mixed pup wandered into a restaurant where a supporter of AT was having dinner on St Patricks night. The supporter decided he couldn’t just let this wee little thing be shooed out of the restaurant and decided to take him home and foster him. He didn’t stay long at his foster home and was quickly adopted into a happy home.

One of our volunteers noticed a ginger cat outside her school who seemed to be very underweight and not looking his best. She decided to try and catch him. After a few days of coaxing, he eventually went into a cat carrier and was taken to the vets for treatment. He was found to be extremely dehydrated and malnourished. However, he has on other problems, except for some very decaying teeth. The vet seems to think he is an older cat and was having trouble getting food. He is now in foster care and slowly putting on weight. He’s on medication and will return to the vets for another check up after 10 days.

Another cat rescue was a joint effort with neighbours and the fire department. We got a call about a distressed cat on a roof top. It was too dangerous for us to get out there, so we lowered a cat trap down and waited. The cat was well behaved and went straight into the trap, then with the fire department’s help the trap was lifted to safety. This little fella was not only lucky to be rescued but was adopted straight away by a neighbour.

A new born black kitten was found dumped in a parking lot. We took him in and did all we could for him, but unfortunately he was too young and too weak and after 2 days left us for the heavens.

While out gathering info for our TNR in Keelong, our volunteer found two little kittens dumped near our feeding station. Our volunteer took the kittens to the vet as quickly as possible. However, they were also just too young and too weak to survive and joined the black kitten upstairs.

Our final sad story of the month was little Keeta. He was resced from the side of the road and he was so weak and thin that all of his bones were protruding under his skin. He was taken to the vets and found to have feline respiratory disease. He was undergoing treatment, but he was too far gone to fight and passed away. We know he is happier now he is out of pain.

CNR/TNR
This month we finished of the females in the Hsin Tien pack. The last two adult females of the pack were spayed. There are a few pups there from previous litters and once the feeder has their confidence we’ll be going back to capture them and also try to get the males.

Also two female dogs were caught and spayed from another CNR location. As the weather currently is still not stable, we are first gathering info of feeders, amount of animals and times of feeding for the other areas of our CNR/TNR projects. Once all info is in we can start with diligence.

Adoptions
It’s been a good month for adoptions. Starting with the dogs :
Romeo and Juliet went on tryouts soon after arriving at the centre. We hope all goes well for them both.

Life went to a fantastic home soon after arriving at the centre and gets all the love and attention she needs.

Diana finally found her forever home. Although her foster family was sad to see her loving face go, they knew it was for the best. Her new loving family gives her so much love she doesn’t know what to do with it and she’s enjoying getting out and about on the scooter.

Nicky after a few misses finally hit the jackpot. He’s gone to a fantastic family where he is truly loved.

Both Cappuccino and Olay two white puppies from the same pack were adopted out successfully to different homes. We know they are going to grow to be beautiful and well behaved ladies.

We had a few hit and misses with the HsinTien puppies but finally all of them were adopted and are now getting all the love and attention they deserve.

Henry has gone on a tryout and things are looking great for him, we have our fingers crossed for him.

Doodle has also recently gone on a tryout and we hope her new mommy will keep her forever.

Now on to the cats,Ginger was adopted by his foster mommy. She couldn’t bare to see him leave.

And our rescue cat from a roof was adopted straight away by a neighbour.

Bella the cat was also adopted by her foster family. She has become one of the family and they never want to part with her.

More news
Mei Mei a previously rescued cat will be coming to our centre for adoption as will another cat from our Dr Lin’s clinic. Mei Mei is healthy and ready for adoption. However, Eggmond has very bad injuries to his back half, including his legs and tail. These injuries are of an unknown origin. He will be staying at our centre for round the clock care and rehabilitation. He is super friendly and we know once his wounds have healed he’ll be adopted quickly because of his super loving personality.

Danica is still in need of a new foster home so she can receive her surgery and get the one on one care she’ll need. She’s had a very difficult life up to now but she has always been brave and loving throughout.

Gigi went on a tryout but was returned because his new furry brother didn’t like her too much. However, the good news is she’ll be going on a new tryout out in April.

Koala has returned to the centre, her foster home couldn’t keep her as the father of the house wasn’t comfortable around dogs.

Rosy, now Daisy is looking for a new home. Her foster family has to return to the states soon and can’t take her. She’s a lovely gentle dog and we’ll be doing everything we can to place her in a loving home where she’ll feel safe.

How you can help!
All the time we get asked, “How can I help?”
Well, of course there are the obvious ways, donating, volunteering, (walking dogs, helping at events, cleaning the centre, translating) and fostering.
But what about in other ways? We understand that not everyone has the financial means to donate, or the time to commit. However, there are other ways. Here are a few things that we really need help with right now.

Donations of cat/dog cages and carriers
We have begun to embark on a major CNR/TNR project in and around Taipei. This means that we will be in desperate need of cages and carriers for the catching and the recuperation of the animals that we are CNR/TNRing. If you have or have friends that have cages or carriers of various sizes and can still be used, please contact our centre on 02-28338820 or email lusant@animalstaiwan.org

Web banners
We have had offers from various websites and web-communities who are willing to let us have banners on their websites for free. We need knowledgeable people who can design these and keep them up dated through out the year at various intervals. Please contact liza@animalstaiwan.org if you can help with this.

Article writing
We also need articles in either English or Chinese about various animal subjects. They could range from training, to health care, to adoptions, to stories. We would give you the titles or subject and ask you to go ahead and write an article about it to be published on our website, our facebook fan page and in our newsletters. We may also use them in press releases to magazines or pamphlets. Please contact liza@animalstaiwan.org if you can help with this.

Facebook Sharing
This seems something very trivial and unimportant. However, Facebook is now a major means for getting noticed. Our animals need as much exposure as possible to increase their chances of adoption. The more people who share the albums and stories the more they get noticed and the chances of adoption increases ten fold. Henry is back for adoption

Henry went for a tryout but he came back yesterday. One of his new family got sick and the whole family have to take care of the one so they can't take care of Henry.

He's looking good, His fur is growing back and he's nice and healthy. He's still peeing in the house.

He's a good boy, and i hope he can find a good home soon.

Diana , the British Bulldog, who was used to breed puppies and was treated very badly by breeders. When we found Diana, she just had a car accident. She was adopted by a nice family few days ago and the photo tells how happy Diana is.

Pat was taken to vet immidiately when we noticed that his leg has infection. He was very calm and nice on the taxi and very cooperated with the vet. He stayed in the vet for 2 days and came back to center today. He needs to have the medicine for a week and we will take him to the vet again when he finish the medicine.

Daisy went for a tryout a while ago but unfortunately Matthew's family needs to return to the US and think that Daisy would be better with a more stable life. Please continue to help Daisy to find a new home.

we helped rescued this kitten from the roof and the kitten already adopted by the resident of the neighborer.

Doodle went for a tryout but the family's grandfather is in the hospital. So they have to take care of him and won't have time to take care of Doodle. She's still up for adoption.

Lost and found dogs and cats

We understand the heart break when a loved doggie or cat goes missing, so we want to help as much as possible.

If you have lost your cat or dog please email inquiries@animalstaiwan.org photos and information about the lost animal (sex, name, age, colors, when lost, where lost, temperament and if they had a collar or harness on and their chip number)
We will put the info on our facebook and our blog and also keep posters in our centre.

Dogs or cats wearing collars with tags and chipped are found much more quickly, so please remember to chip your animal and let them wear a collar. Also fireworks scare the most obedient of dogs, so keep your dog leashed when there are likely to be in places where fireworks or crackers let off.

Please also inform us when you have found your loved one, so we can let everyone know.

Also if you have found a dog or a cat and you think it's gotten lost, please email me photos and info of where he/she was found and we'll also post these.

Our monthly flea market will be held on March. 26th Sat. 5PM~10:00PM
@ a western restaurant by Shida Road.
We need the help of many volunteers.
If you can’t come and help, please feel free to come and visit us. You might just find some neat and wonderful presents for Christmas with a better deal!
All the funds will go straight to Animals Taiwan helping animals in need.
